Some of these settings "mimic" Nikon camera settings. But ACR gives you large flexibility in pre-configuration of settings you have to set up yourself or start with supplied "default" settings. NX and NX2 can read settings that were already set before shooting in camera (and stored in the NEF files with the image data) while ACR cannot. Actually the whole point is to have at least partially pre-configured settings in both programs that give you "best" conversions for the type of image. Such settings can be changed both in ACR and in NX to your liking. that have major impact on the converted image. ![]() It would be surprising if these interpretations would closely match.Īlso you are not opening the NEF file in PS CS3 you are instead opening the file in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) and subsequently the converted image is displayed in PS.ĪCR (just as NX) has setting like white balance, sharpening etc. In both programs the RAW data are converted into an image that is shown on your monitor. What you see on your monitor are two different interpretations of recorded image data (conversions from RAW files). You cannot "see" NEF files in either of these programs. ![]() "I am using RAW (NEF), and opening the NEF files in CS3.
